Inveremere is a community of 3300 people which, for most of the year, doesn’t have a parking problem. However, during the summer months of increased tourism and local holidays, parking in the downtown is challenging.
We were hired with Opus Consulting to design a parking strategy to help manage downtown parking during the summer months, while recognizing the need for good travel and connection throughout the year.
In our study we tracked summer vehicle numbers and parking use over the course of 2 months, and identified key areas of congestion and parking demand.
Final recommendations included parking restrictions for the summer months, better signage and markings for public parking lots, and policy to encourage off-street parking for downtown businesses and residents.
